V's Pattern

I know what V's pattern is, it is obvious, and is well hidden in plain sight.

After watching V For Vendetta again today I realise that I always knew what the hidden message was. The pattern to the film is a circle. It is as simple as that and as complicated as that.

The circle is dominant in the film and represents completion, repitition, a cycle, and ultimately ego. Yes I think it is that ever present metaphor of the ego that completely rules the philosophy behind V, the ego is repetitive in nature and is a cycle that is difficult to break free from. It is a kind of brain washing that keeps its victim trapped. Only a disturbing force can jolt the victim into recognition of the ego and of the cycles that it purveys.

I knew as Finch finds out that the cycle has always repeated, repeats today, and for ever more shall repeat unless the spell is broken and the individual freed. The eggy bread, the shadow galleries, the abduction from homes, the torture and release of Evey, the revenge of V. All these things are part of the circle and part of the awkening for Evey, she spots it, and those at the cinema or at home can spot it too.

V can be the wake up call for those people who are trapped by their ever repeating ego's that keep them scared and downtrodden, keep them tired and lazy, keep them weak and selfish. It can be broken by this film if they are sensitive enough to the idea, if not, well, they must go through what Evey went through before they'll realise.

I suddenly had this feeling that everything was connected. It was like I could see the whole thing, one long chain of events that stretched all the way back before Larkhill.
I felt like I could see everything that happened, and everything that was going to happen. It was like a perfect pattern laid out in front of me, and I realised that we were all a part of it and all trapped by it.

Eric Finch,

V For Vendetta.

Like T6yr4, V does not play dice.
