I am becoming more and more convinced that there is imperical truth to the phrase; don't count your chickens before they've hatched.

I have seen that situations which have not happened yet, cannot be assumed. Nor should they be spoken about openly until they are confirmed. Too many times now I have been in the situation where i've blabbed about something good happening to everyone I know and that thing has not happened. Conversely I have kept quiet about some others which have not looked good, and despite my fears have actually been a good outcome.
