Richard Bach; author of Illusions, has written that in his experience if you want something bad enough then you will probably get it. 

I find that this is a very selfish and lazy view of the world, and not one that should morally be sold to people. However I am beginning to take note. Two recent incidents in my life appear to have been caused by this effect; meeting my new girlfriend Alison, and my car crash. Both are things that I wanted to happen for a long time, in the case of the car it was written off by the insurers and I now have more money than I could have sold the car for.

Whether internal workings of the human mind can cause physical things to happen through will power alone I cannot say. But from now on I am watching.
